In the Late 1960’s Harry Cawley returned to Oxford, MD after serving in the United States Airforce and became a loan Officer at Union Trust Bank. While working at the bank, Harry began mowing lawns around Oxford with his father and his first two sons. At this time the company was known as Cawley and Sons. To this day, Oxford Lawn & Landscape, Inc. still maintains the properties of some of his very first clients.
In August 1978, Harry Cawley quit his job as a loan officer at a local bank to take his part time lawn mowing operation full time. He named the new endeavor Oxford Mowing Company. With the support of his wife Debbie managing the office, a 1972 Dodge pick-up, 2 mowers and two employees, Oxford Mowing Company was in business to serve the small town of Oxford, MD.
Oxford Mowing Company did not advertise or list itself in the phone book; satisfied customers were sure to let their friends know who to call for lawn care. As the word got out, Oxford Mowing Company grew to service more customers in the surrounding towns of Easton, Wye Mills and St. Michaels. As the years passed Oxford Mowing Company gradually grew its services to include landscape maintenance, lawn renovation and lawn care. Harry liked to say that Oxford Mowing Company could do any project on the outside of the house.
By 2005, the name Oxford Mowing Company no longer defined the company. It was changed to Oxford Lawn & Landscape, Inc. Oxford Lawn & Landscape, Inc. employs 50 people during the peak season. We care for over 400 properties in TalbotCounty ranging from the historic properties of Oxford to estates with more than 30 acres of manicured lawn and landscape.
