Fertilization & IPM

Oxford Lawn & Landscape, Inc. uses the safest methods to protect you, your pets and the environment. The result is a healthy lawn that is more resistant to harmful diseases and insects.   Our customers depend on our professionally designed and customized programs to keep their lawns looking great all year. From the early spring green-up to the heavy root-building treatments in the fall you can depend on us!

Tall Fescue

Fertilization is the single most important thing you can do to improve your lawn quality and to maintain a healthy lawn.

Fertilizers come in hundreds of different grades, some offering herbicides and pesticides that can help control pests as well as feed your lawn.  Fertilizer grades are determined by the percentage of the three major plant nutrients found in each bag.   Those three major nutrients are Nitrogen, Potash and Phosphate.  There are also several other nutrients and micro-nutrients that are found in fertilizers such as sulfur, calcium and magnesium.  The best way to determine what type of mixture that is best for your lawn is to a have the soil tested for its nutrient content.  The results of the soil test compared to the recommend nutrient levels for the species of grass you have will tell you exactly what nutrients are needed.

The most important nutrient in the lawn fertilization program is nitrogen. Nitrogen helps promote green color and a thick, dense lawn. Nitrogen does stimulate topgrowth, which leads to more rapid growth. The more nitrogen that is applied the faster and thicker the lawn will grow.  Studies have shown that late fall, September/October and early winter, November/December fertilization is ideal for tall fescue lawns.

Our Transitional program is designed to give your lawn the best components of both synthetic and organic products.

Our organic-based fertilizers provide your turf with the proper nutrients needed for a deep green color while providing the organic matter to improve your soil structure and strengthen the root system.

We will then take the time to spot treat each weed or unwanted grass individually rather than blanket spraying the entire lawn with unnecessary chemicals.

Transitional Benefits:

 -Organic-based fertilizers
 -Broadleaf weed control
 -Pre-emergent crab-grass control

Our Custom Program is just that...Custom, Specific to your lawn.

This great if you would like to use different programs or products on different sections of the lawn where you would like different results.  For example, you want your front yard to have curb appeal with a perfect weed free lawn but you want your backyard pesticide free for your pets and children.

Custom Program benefits:

-A plan that is just for you, specific to your needs.

Our Totally Natrual program is designed for customers who would like a healthy lush green lawn without the worry of pesticides and synthetic materials.

After treatment the turf is totally safe your children and pets to play on. There are no worries of residues or the runoff of pesticides into our bay.
Over time your turf will become healthy and thick which will crowd out unwanted weeds.  The removal of pesticides and herbicides will allow for the colonization of beneficial microorganisms that help keep your turf healthy and green.

Benefits of our Totally Natrual Program:

-Organic Fertilizers
-Controlled Release of Nutrients
-Root and Soil Stimulation
-abundant beneficial microorganisms

Weed Control

Post-emergent herbicides kill existing weeds, but do nothing to prevent new weeds from sprouting. This type of herbicide only affects the plant on which it is sprayed and quickly becomes inert when it hits the ground. Regular applications can be an effective and inexpensive way to control weeds in mulched areas, parking areas, driveways, patios and walkways.  We offer post-emergent treatments throughout the year for only a small additional charge per application.

Pre-emergent herbicides prevent new groth from any plant type from sprouting, but have no affect on existing weeds. If applied correctly this type of herbicide creates a barrier on the surface that prevents the germination of any plant.  We offer pre-emergent applications in landscape beds as well as on your lawn.
